FAQ
Top questions about PDF translation
Will the PDF layout change after translation?
PDFs are complex documents, so some changes may occur. We do our best to preserve original formatting (fonts, colors, tables, image positions), but certain complex layouts may differ.
- Smart format recognition
- Full layout structure retention
- Accurate chart positioning
- Lossless style inheritance
What types of PDFs are supported?
We currently support text-based PDFs only. Scanned or image-based PDFs are not yet supported (no OCR; planned for future support).
- Text-based PDFs
- Encrypted PDFs (with password)
Is there a file size limit?
Each PDF up to 50MB. For very large files, consider splitting first.
- Standard docs: within 50MB
- Pages recommended: ≤ 500
- Complex charts: fewer pages
- Batch processing: upload in parts
How long does PDF translation take?
Depends on size and complexity. 10 pages usually take 3–5 minutes; large docs 10–30 minutes.
- Simple (1–10 pages): 3–5 min
- Medium (10–50 pages): 10–15 min
- Complex (50–200 pages): 20–30 min
- Real-time progress available
How are images and charts handled?
We do not extract text within images (no OCR; OCR support is planned). We translate editable text elements (titles, labels) and preserve chart visuals.
- No OCR for text in images
- Translate chart titles and labels (editable text)
- Preserve chart layout
- Keep data and numbers intact
Can scanned PDFs be translated?
Not yet supported. Please use a third-party OCR to convert the file to a text-based PDF before uploading. This feature is planned for future versions.
- OCR not supported
- Text-based PDFs only
- Convert via OCR first
- Upload after conversion
